An 85-year-old driving in the San Fernando Valley hit a Los Angeles police officer who was writing a ticket and left him hospitalized with a head injury.
Police spokeswoman Karen Rayner says the officer was standing in the roadway issuing another driver a citation Sunday in the Sherman Oaks area when the woman hit his patrol car then hit the officer.
The officer was sent on to the hood of the woman's vehicle and hit her windshield, then fell on to the pavement.
The officer's condition was taken to hospital. His condition was described only as stable.
It was not immediately clear whether the woman would face any charges, and no names were immediately released.
