O.C. Sex Predator Flees Before Jury Convicts Him

SANTA ANA, Calif. (AP) ― A search is under way for a Garden Grove hospital employee who fled court just before a jury convicted him of sexually assaulting six patients in a maternity ward.

A district attorney spokeswoman says Dante Arnaud was ordered to remain in the Orange County courthouse while the jury considered his case, but he disappeared during deliberations.

The jury deliberated about 30 minutes before convicting Arnaud of six counts of sexual battery by fraud and one count of sexual penetration by misrepresenting his professional purpose.

The DA's office says Arnaud had posted $250,000 bail and was not in custody while the jury deliberated. The judge issued a warrant for Arnaud's arrest when he failed to appear for the verdict.
