Officials said Thursday that a 16-year-old boy they had in custody has admitted to his role in a misdemeanor sexual battery against a 15 year-old-girl who was found unconscious last month in a Chatsworth park.
The teen was sent home pending an Aug. 15 disposition hearing in Juvenile Court, according to Sandi Gibbons of the District Attorney's Office.
Another teen, a boy of 15, is awaiting trial on more serious charges -- one felony count each of rape of an unconscious person, sodomy of an unconscious person, sexual penetration by a foreign object of an unconscious victim, sexual penetration by a foreign object of a drugged victim and rape by use of drugs.
The 15-year-old is due back in Juvenile Court on July 8, when a trial date is scheduled to be set, according to Gibbons.
The attack occurred shortly before 11 a.m. May 15 at Mason Park.
Authorities said the teens were at the park because classes at Chatsworth High School were not scheduled to start until later in the day.
The 15-year-old girl had been drinking, but left her beverage unattended, authorities said.
