Corona Fire-School Closures
School closures in effect for Tuesday due to the Corona Fire are as follows:
- Brea Public Schools;
- Chino Hills Public Schools
Also, schools in
Pomona,
Placentia,
Yorba Linda and
Fullerton districts will be open Tuesday as long as conditions permit. Students will be kept indoors in Pomona schools.
LAUSD Plans
All schools in the Los Angeles Unified School District will hold classes as normal Tuesday, but all outdoor activities will be cancelled, a spokeswoman said late today.
Gayle Pollard-Terry, a district spokeswoman, said public schools near the fire zone will also be in session. Sylmar High School, the site of a relocation center for persons burned out of the Oakridge Mobile Home Park, will hold normal classes.
All physical education activities, including any outdoor interscholastic sports, are cancelled across the entire LAUSD on Tuesday, she said.

OC Brea Schools
All nine public schools in the city of Brea will be closed Tuesday, including daycare and preschool programs, according to the school district's administrative office.
The closures will allow Brea Olinda Unified School District officials to clean the facilities and prepare them for students to return.
Brea Canyon Alternative High School, which sustained significant damage in this weekend's Brea fire, is expected to remain closed for up to three months, city of Brea spokeswoman Cindie Ryan told the Orange County Register.

Brea-Olinda Friends Christian School and Preschool will reopen on Tuesday.
Maintenance crews will be at schools on Monday to ensure a safe and healthy environment for students' return on Tuesday.
WALNUT VALLEY UNIFIED SCHOOL DISTRICT Despite the heroic efforts of our firefighters, all schools in the Walnut Valley Unified School District will be closed on Monday, November 17, 2008. Because air quality will still be adversely affected by the fire, no before or after school activities will be held. Classes are expected to resume Tuesday, November 18, according to the school district web site.
Classes at the Funshine Preschool and Childcare program will resume on Tuesday, November 18, 2008.
