Authorities asked for the public's help Monday in finding the gunman who killed two people in a Santa Fe Springs parking lot Sunday, according to police.
The shooting, which happened on the 11500 block of Los Nietos Road, took place just after 2 a.m. Sunday, Lt. Bill Webster of the Whittier Police Department said.
Officers were reportedly on a traffic stop when they responded to a "shots fired" call. After scouring the area, police were able to locate a male and female victim. The victims had both been shot in the head and were pronounced dead at the scene, Whittier police spokesman Jason Zuhlke said.
Their names were withheld pending notification of their families. They were both believed to be in their 30s, Zuhlke said.
Anyone with information about the case was urged to call the Whittier Police Department at (562) 945-8250.
