A 27-year-old man has been arrested for the attempted kidnapping of a 15-year-old girl at a Canyon Country bus stop, authorities said.
Cesar Galvan of Palmdale was taken into custody on Tuesday by detectives from the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department's Santa Clarita Valley Station during a follow-up investigation at a bus stop at Soledad Canyon and Camp Plenty roads, according to sheriff's Sgt. Darren Harris.
A 15-year-old Canyon Country resident told deputies that a man attempted to kidnap her while she was waiting on the bus bench at the location on April 29.
The teen said a man approached her, began asking questions, then grabbed her arm and attempted to pull her away, Harris said.
She fought back by kicking the assailant, freeing herself from his grip. She then ran to safety inside a nearby business, and he fled, he said.
On Tuesday, detectives assembled a surveillance operation at the same bus stop, and when Galvan was spotted, he was detained, Harris said. Galvan was later placed under arrest and booked at the sheriff's Santa Clarita Valley Station.
The suspect is being held in lieu of $100,000 bail and will face a charge of attempted kidnapping, Harris said.
Detectives released a photograph of Galvan and his vehicle in an effort to encourage any other victims or witnesses to the April 29 incident to come forward, he said.
Anyone with information on the suspect is urged to call sheriff's Detective Rick Welch at (661) 799-5141.
