Forecasters say the Santa Ana winds responsible for Southern California's summerlike temperatures will continue into the weekend.
The National Weather Service says warnings of fire danger due to gusty winds and prolonged low relative humidity will remain in effect until Saturday night in the mountains of L.A. and Ventura counties.
A lesser fire weather watch is issued for the coasts and coastal valleys from Thursday evening through Saturday evening.
Forecasters say dry offshore flow is expected to last into Tuesday, but winds will have weakened below critical levels by Sunday. Humidity levels will remain very low until onshore flow returns Tuesday afternoon.
Downtown Los Angeles reached 86 degrees today -- 18 degrees above normal.
