Orange County Jail's Week-Long Lockdown Lifted

SANTA ANA (AP) ― Orange County's lockdown at the Men's Central Jail has been lifted a week after a brawl between black and Hispanic inmates.

More than 1,300 inmates got back their privileges Friday, including visiting hours, day-room activities, outdoor recreation and eating with other inmates instead of taking meals in their cells.

Sheriff's Lt. Mike Colver says inmates ate breakfast together Friday and there were no incidents.

The jail was locked down April 18 because of fights in two dorms, each housing about 68 inmates, between black and Hispanic inmates. Eleven inmates suffered minor injuries.
