A gathering on a patio balcony at a home in San Pedro was disrupted on Saturday night when the structure collapsed and eight adults dropped 8 to 10 feet, a Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman said.
Firefighters were still treating victims at the single-family residence in the 300 block of South Weymouth Avenue and transporting them to area hospitals at 9:50 p.m., said Inspector Brian Ballton, a fire department spokesman in the City Hall dispatch center.
The victims suffered minor to moderate injuries in the collapse, which occurred at about 9:01 p.m., Ballton said.
