Abducted 2-Year-Old Boy Reunited With Mom

SAN JACINTO A young boy was reunited with his mother Saturday after he was allegedly abducted by his father in San Jacinto Friday, according to the Riverside County Sheriff's Department.

Rondieuz Farrio Odom Jr., of Hemet, allegedly took his 2-year-old son from his mother about 9:20 p.m. Friday at a parking lot outside a Walmart store in the 1800 block of South San Jacinto Street, said sheriff's Investigator Matt Diaz.

The 24-year-old mother said she was taking her son out of his car seat when Odom, 28, came up behind her, placed his hand around her throat, held a sharp object to her stomach and threatened to stab her if she resisted, Diaz said.

When Walmart security guards arrived, Odom released the woman but grabbed his son from the car, ran to his vehicle and drove away, Diaz said.

The woman said she has a restraining order against Odom to limit his contact with her, he said.

Investigators were unable to get in touch with Odom at his residence in Hemet, Diaz said.

About 3 a.m. Saturday, a relative of Odom called the boy's mother and said Odom had dropped their son off with him, Diaz said.

The boy was reunited with his mother and he did not appear to have been injured or harmed in any way.

The suspect has friends and family in Los Angeles County, and Diaz said he may be hiding out with them.

Odom was last seen driving a black, two-door, 2001 Honda Civic, which had a spare tire on the front left side, Diaz said. The license plate was 4VCT626. There was a white Anaheim Angels logo in the rear window.

Anyone with information on Odom's whereabouts was asked to call the Riverside County Sheriff's Department at (951) 776-1099, or (951) 791-3425.
