Man Accused Of Trying To Run Woman Off Road

SAN JACINTO Police arrested a Salinas man Saturday and accused him of trying to run a female driver off a San Jacinto road with his SUV.

The female driver, a 34-year-old Hemet woman, dialed 911 about 3 a.m.
Saturday and said a man she didn't know was behind her in a gold SUV, trying to force her off the road, according to sheriff's Sgt. Rick Garcia.

An officer in a vehicle responded, spotted the two vehicles moving at
high speed, and followed, Garcia said.

The officer reportedly saw the man, identified later as Adrian Perez, 20, of Salinas trying to make aggressive moves on the woman's car while driving near Cottonwood Avenue and Kirby Street.

The officer tried at this point to intervene but the SUV hit a tree on Cottonwood east of Palm Avenue, Garcia said.

Police say Perez tried to flee after crashing into the tree.

The SUV was also reportedly stolen (although it wasn't reported as such).
Garcia also said four tires and wheels presumed to be stolen were also in the car as well.

Adrian Perez was booked on charges including assault with a deadly weapon and receiving stolen property, according to Garcia and jail records.

Perez was held today on $25,000 bail at Larry D. Smith Correctional Facility in Banning, a jail spokesman said.
