SAG Board Votes To Allow Members To Vote On Strike
LOS ANGELES (AP) ―
The Screen Actors Guild National Board of Directors has simultaneously voted to bring in a federal mediator to intercede on its contract and to ask members if they want to authorize a strike.
Through a press release, the 120,000-member union announced an
overwhelming vote to take a small step toward authorizing a strike. If 75 percent of members vote in favor of a labor action, it would then be left to the national negotiating committee to authorize the strike.
SAG's chief negotiator Doug Allen says the union's number one
goal remains securing a good contract without a strike.
