Police say a man shot and wounded his estranged wife and, in turn, they shot and wounded him near the westbound Pomona (60) Freeway early Saturday morning.
The man and woman, whose identities were not released, were both
recovering Saturday from gunshot injuries, said Riverside County Deputy Javier Rodriguez.
"They were both stable when I left" about 3 a.m. today, Rodriguez said. "She received one gunshot wound."
Four deputies shot at the suspect, who was hit by at least two bullets, Rodriguez said.
The trouble was first reported at 10:26 p.m. Friday as a possible assault with a deadly weapon, Rodriguez said.
Deputies found the wounded woman at Mission Boulevard and Valley Way and began looking for the suspect who was reported walking in the area, north of the 60 freeway.
Deputies found the man behind a business in the 2900 block of Rubidoux
Boulevard and ordered him to surrender, Rodriguez said.
The suspect allegedly displayed a handgun, and four deputies fired their weapons, Rodriguez said.
The deputies involved in the shooting were placed on administrative leave, per department policy for officer-involved shootings.
