Attempted Abduction Suspect Wanted In Rubidoux
RUBIDOUX, Calif.
Police are searching for a man who followed a young girl on her way home from school in Rubidoux and tried to persuade her to get in his car.
The girl, a sixth-grade student at Peralta Elementary School, told authorities she was walking home at about 4:50 p.m. Tuesday when a man drove up to her near a bus stop at Riverview Drive and Jensen Ranch Road and asked if she wanted a ride, sheriff's Sgt. Bruce Meeks said. The girl refused and continued walking, but the man followed and kept trying to convince the girl to get in his car.
The girl said no and the man eventually drove away, Meeks said.
The man was described as Hispanic, about 50 years old, 5 feet 7 inches and 200 pounds, with gray and black hair, unshaven face with a mustache. He spoke Spanish and wore a blue shirt, blue jeans and drove a 1980s four-door sedan, possibly a Nissan, metallic green or gray and in poor condition with rear-end damage.
Anyone with information about the man can call sheriff's Deputy Clifford Ko at (951) 361-6521.
