A 16-year-old boy was wounded early Saturday morning in a shooting in the Casa Blanca area of Riverside, a police watch commander said.
The unidentified teen underwent surgery and was listed in critical condition at a Riverside hospital, Riverside police Lt. Tim Bacon said.
A confrontation with other unknown males preceded the shooting, Bacon said.
Police responded to the 7400 block of Diamond Street and found the 16-year-old with gunshot injuries to the upper torso, according to Bacon.
Officers asked anyone with information to call Riverside police Detective Greg Rowe at (951) 353-7136.
