Richard Zarate, 28, was intentionally run over, according to authorities.
A hit-and-run driver who fatally injured a man over the weekend remained at large Tuesday.
Richard Zarate, 28, of Oxnard, confronted the man about allegedly urinating outside Lofflers Sports Bar & Grill, 8901 Katella Ave., about 1:30 a.m. Saturday. The suspect then got into a light-brown, newer model Honda and ran him over, according to Jim Amormino of the Orange County Sheriff's Department.
Zarate was dragged down the street about 75 yards, he said. The Honda driver then turned around and hit him a second time.
Someone inside the suspect's vehicle allegedly grabbed Zarate's wife's hair as the vehicle passed by, and she reportedly suffered cuts and bruises when she fell on the ground.
Witnesses told authorities two men and four women were in the Honda, which had 1G or 1Q on the license plate.
The car has specialty rims, tinted windows and should have damage on the front end from striking Zarate near Regal Avenue and Mac Street.
Anyone with more information was asked to call the sheriff's department.
