Plane Crash Survivor Talks To CBS 2

Regina Hosley Was Home Making Tacos When A Plane Slammed Into Her House

COMPTON The wreckage of a private plane that crashed into two Compton homes was still sticking out of one of the homes Sunday as investigators tried to determine why the plane went down.

Meanwhile, one of the people injured when that plane crashed into her home spoke exclusively with CBS 2 News.

The crash of the twin-engine Cessna 310 into two homes in the 500 block
of West Cypress Street was reported just before 4 p.m. Saturday, said FAA spokesman Ian Gregor.

Two people on the plane and two on the ground were reported to be in critical condition. A fifth victim reported feeling ill after the crash but all are expected to survive, a fire official told CBS 2.

One of those victims injured on the ground spoke exclusively to CBS 2. Regina Hosley was in the kitchen making tacos when the plane hit her house. She spoke with Serene Branson and, despite being in obvious pain, was able to quip about her ordeal.

When asked how she felt, Hosley said, "Like I got hit by an airplane."

Hosley said the last thing she remembered was being at the sink. When she was placed into the ambulance, the attendant told her a plane had crashed into her house, something that took a moment to comprehend.

Hosley's boyfriend remains in serious condition.

The FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board were investigating the cause of the crash, but spokespersons for both agencies won't provide any updates until Monday.

Leo Wyatt, who lives in the neighborhood, told reporters he saw the plane
crash and ran to the scene, where he he pulled out the pilot and a passenger.

The Cessna had taken off from the Hawthorne Airport and flown to Montgomery Field, a general aviation airport in the San Diego community of Kearny Mesa. It was headed back to Hawthorne when the pilot apparently tried to make an emergency landing at the Compton Airport, officials said.

The plane was registered in Carson City, Nev., and the pilot belonged to
a local flying club in Compton, the TV station reported.

Other homes in the neighborhood were evacuated as a precaution.
