Crocodile Hunter Has Reggie In His Sights
Steve Irwin Says Seeya Later, Alligator...But I'll Be Back
HARBOR CITY, Calif. (CBS) ―
Steve Irwin, TV's popular "Crocodile Hunter", has told L.A. politicians that he will capture the famous (or is that now infamous?) Reggie the Alligator, who is trolling around Harbor City's Machado Lake.
Irwin was in L.A. Tuesday where he made his vow to get his man, uh, croc. The Australian-born Irwin, known for his trademark khaki shorts and out-sized personality, was here for publicity appearances and briefly stopped by the lake to get a beat on the hard-to-capture croc.
Irwin told L.A. City Councilwoman Janice Hahn that he would be back to do a little alligator wrangling and rid Machado Lake of it's most famous resident.
Reggie will enjoy at least a few more months of publicity and unwanted attention. Irwin will not return until next April or May at the earliest. Citing the "challenge" involved, Irwin told reporters that he was up for the task.
