Reggie The Gator's 'Releasers' Face Charges

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― A former LAPD officer and another man arrested in December for dumping an alligator into a Harbor City lake are scheduled to hear charges read against them today in Los Angeles.

Todd Natow and Anthony Brewer allegedly released the seven-foot reptile into Harbor Regional Park's Machado Lake, where it became known by the public as Reggie.

Natow faces 14 misdemeanor counts of unlawful possession of restricted animals, releasing an alligator into the lake, causing a public nuisance and marijuana possession. Natow worked for the LAPD for 17 years before leaving in 2001.

Brewer faces six misdemeanor charges.
