Redmond O'Neal Charged With Felony Drug Possession

CASTAIC, Calif. (AP) ― Redmond O'Neal, the son of actors Ryan O'Neal and Farrah Fawcett, been charged with a felony count of drug possession in connection with his arrest Sunday at a Los Angeles County detention facility.

The criminal complaint alleges that Redmond O'Neal -- who was with a passenger at the Pitchess Detention Center South in Castaic to visit an incarcerated friend of the passenger -- knowingly possessed heroin while at the facility. Arraignment is scheduled today at the Santa Clarita Courthouse.

O'Neal was taken back in custody after deputies said they found drugs on him at the jail security checkpoint.

Los Angeles Sheriff's Department spokesman Steve Whitmore said. O'Neal was arrested around 9:30 a.m. Sunday April 5th in the parking lot of a jail facility in Castaic.

O'Neal was apparently at the jail giving a ride to a friend, Whitmore said. A deputy stopped the 24-year-old, who admitted he was carrying drugs, Whitmore said.

He was arrested on suspicion of bringing narcotics into a jail facility and was being held on $25,000 bail.

The arrest was first reported by RadarOnline.com. O'Neal's attorney did not immediately return a phone message seeking comment.
