A Riverside County man has been sentenced to 965 years in prison for taking hostage and raping nine women.

A judge in Riverside sentenced Peter Milosavljevic Friday on 38 charges, including rape and false imprisonment.

Prosecutors said the 57-year-old Mead Valley man preyed on women with psychiatric disorders or drug problems. Authorities say that between 2001 and 2005 he invited the women into his home, offering them cheap housing, but then held them hostage until they escaped or he let them go.

Prosecutors said he held one woman for six months and threatened to kill her family if she disobeyed.

At trial, he denied having sex with some of the women and said the other encounters were consensual.
