Daughter Accused Of Killing Mother Returns To O.C.

She and Her Boyfriend Face Murder Charges

NEWPORT BEACH, Calif. (CBS) ― The daughter of a woman who was fatally stabbed and dumped in Newport Harbor, and the daughter's boyfriend, were returned to Orange County Thursday to face murder charges.

Rachel Mullenix, 17, and Ian Allen, 21, are accused of murdering 56-year-old Anne Mullenix, who had been fatally stabbed in her Huntington Beach condominium.

Her body was wrapped in a blanket and dumped in the harbor, where it was found Sept. 13, according to Huntington Beach police Capt. Dan Johnson.

Mullinex lived in the condominium with her daughter and ex-husband, who was in Northern California when she was killed, he said.

Rachel Mullenix could not be found until Sept. 15, when she was arrested with her boyfriend in Lafayette, La., while on the two were on their way to Florida, police said.

Both Allen and Mullenix were charged with murder. Allen is also charged with personal use of a deadly weapon.

Allen arrived in Orange County Thursday morning and Rachel Mullenix was expected to arrive Thursday afternoon, Farrah Emami of the Orange County District Attorney's Office said.
