No Bomb Found On Threatened Qantas Jetliner

LOS ANGELES (AP) ― The FBI says a six-hour search has turned up no explosives on a Qantas jetliner that was grounded at Los Angeles International Airport following a bomb threat.

The flight was supposed to depart for Sydney, Australia, at 10 a.m. Friday but precautions were taken when a threat came in a telephone call to law enforcement officials.

Airport spokeswoman Nancy Castles says the 347 passengers and 20 crew members were boarding at the time of the threat and had to deplane.

The Boeing 747-400 was taken to the west end of the airport. Castles says the passengers were put up in hotels until another flight could be found.

Detectives are investigating who made the threat.
