About 75 protesters and counterprotesters are chanting and shouting outside the Israeli Consulate in Los Angeles about Israel's incursion in the Gaza Strip.
Police used crime scene tape strung across the sidewalk to create a buffer between the two sides on Tuesday afternoon. Officer Ana Aguirre says no arrests have been made.
The protest, which has closed off at least two blocks during rush hour, is the latest of several held in the city over the ongoing clash between Israeli military forces and the Palestinian militant group Hamas.
More than 500 people have been killed since Israeli forces began targeting Hamas 11 days ago.
