37 Arrested In Craigslist Prostitution Ring
LOS ANGELES (CBS) ―
Thirty-seven people were arrested as a result of a prostitution ring involving Craigslist.com.
The Pasadena Star-News reported that two suspected prostitutes leapt from second-floor windows to escape as "Operation Red Light" officers raided several locations where computer-assisted brothels were operating in the San Gabriel Valley.
Police officers in Alhambra, Monrovia, Monterey Park, Rosemead, and San Gabriel joined Los Angeles Sheriff's deputies in unincorporated East Pasadena in the raids, which took place Tuesday and Wednesday.
Coordinated by the sheriff's department, officers made dates with about 32 women at locations ranging from massage parlors to condominiums in residential neighborhoods.
Five people were arrested at one of the suspected brothels, located in the 3800 block of Rosemead Boulevard.
Federal immigration officers accompanied local officers on all the raids, and the FBI will be given two one hundred dollar bills that were seized and appeared to be counterfeit.
