Ex-Principal Accused Of Molesting 3 Girls, Fleeing
LYNWOOD (CBS) ―
Authorities have arrested a former Lynwood high school principal who fled the country after being accused of molesting three girls on a volleyball team he coached.
Jonas Silverio, 40, of Downey was arrested at Los Angeles International Airport, where he arrived on a flight from the Philippines, Los Angeles County Sheriff's Sgt. Diane Hecht said.
Silverio is the former principal at Firebaugh High School, 5246 Martin Luther King Jr.
Silverio was placed on administrative leave May 13, after he was accused of molesting three girls. He is charged with 17 felony counts of lewd acts upon a child of 14 or 15 years of age. He was booked at the LAPD Century Station on $1 million bail.
Silverio has been employed at various schools in the Los Angeles area, and detectives are investigating allegations dating back to 1996, Hecht said.
