Cruise Ship Crew Member Acquitted Of Sex Assault
LOS ANGELES (AP) ―
A Princess Cruises crew member has been acquitted of the sexual assault of a female passenger.
A federal jury in Los Angeles on Friday found 38-year-old Portugese national Jorge Teixeira not guilty of aggravated sexual abuse, a charge that could have earned him life in prison.
A 42-year-old woman from Kansas City claimed she was sexually assaulted by Teixeira in March while on a cruise through the Panama Canal after the pair shared a bottle of wine in the ship's dining room.
Teixeira was arrested as the Coral Princess ship docked at the Port of Los Angeles.
Teixeira testified that any sex acts between the two were consensual.
