Faulty Transformer Causes Power Outage

MARINA DEL REY, Calif. (CBS) ― About 51 customers still remained in the dark Monday morning following a power outage in the Marina Del Rey area, according to Southern California Edison (SCE) officials.

The outage was reported at 2:13 a.m. in the area bordered by Washington Boulevard to the north, Fiji Way to the south, Via Dolce on the west and Admiralty Way to the east, SCE spokeswoman Lois Pitter Bruce said.

About 1,017 customers were impacted by the outage.

Power was restored to all but 51 customers by 6 a.m., Bruce said.

The cause of the outage was attributed to a faulty underground transformer. It was unclear when the remaining customers would have their power restored.
