LOS ANGELES About 1,000 Los Angeles Department of Water and Power customers were without electricity Thursday in parts of Westwood and Bel Air Estates, authorities said.

The first outage began about 4:20 a.m. in Westwood near Hilgard and Warner avenues, and affected 278 customers, Carol Tucker of the LADWP said.

The second outage began about 7:25 a.m. in Bel Air Estates near Beverly Glen Boulevard, between Sunset Boulevard and Stone Canyon Road, and affected 700 customers, Tucker said.

Crews were working to restore underground power lines, Tucker said.
