Two gunmen, described as white men wearing masks, robbed popular Norm's Restaurant on La Cienga early Sunday morning.
The armed men got away with an undisclosed amount of cash from the register. It's not immediately known if the suspects also took money from employees and patrons.
A police spokesperson said one of the robbers wore a ski mask and the other covered his face with a plastic bag with eyeholes cut out.
The gunmen reportedly chased employees through the panicked restaurant where the workers were able to lock themselves in a back room.
Witnesses said the suspects fled in a waiting white, four-door Ford Contour last seen driving towards nearby Santa Monica Boulevard, said Los Angeles police spokesperson Ana Aguirre.
Police were dispatched to the scene at 470 N. La Cienega Blvd. at 4:50 a.m., Aguirre said.
