1 Arrested, 74 Vehicles Impounded At Checkpoint

POMONA, Calif. Police impounded 74 vehicles and arrested one driver on suspicion of drunken driving as the results of an overnight drunken driving checkpoint in conducted in Pomona, a police corporal said Saturday.

The checkpoint was established Friday night from 5 p.m. until midnight in the area of Valley Boulevard and Kellogg Avenue, said Pomona Cpl. Bill Knight.

Police wrote more than 82 citations for various California Vehicle Code violations out of the approximately 2,301 cars that were screened, Knight said.

Suspended licenses -- related to driving ability or convictions for drivers being under the influence of alcohol or drugs -- were responsible for about 11 of the citations, he said.
