Firefighters Battle Blaze In Point Mugu State Park

POINT MUGU (AP) ― A small wildfire in coastal Ventura County has closed Pacific Coast Highway, but fire officials say it's not threatening any homes.

County fire Capt. John Alford says the 10-acre blaze erupted shortly before 8 a.m. Wednesday in the Pt. Mugu State Park, at the far west end of the Santa Monica Mountains. The fire is burning up steep, brushy La Jolla canyon onto rocky ridges overlooking the ocean.

About 100 firefighters and some water-dropping aircraft have been called in.

There are no homes nearby.

Alford says there's not much wind up there and the fire is moving at a moderate pace.
