Officials say a small plane has made an emergency landing on a major roadway in Los Angeles.
Los Angeles Fire Department spokesman Ron Myers says the plane made a hard emergency landing on San Fernando Road several blocks from Whiteman Airport on Wednesday around 9:20 p.m.
The small airport is in the northern Los Angeles suburb of Pacoima in the San Fernando Valley.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the experimental single-engine FlightStar aircraft dodged utility lines and clipped a parked car as it touched down on the four-lane street as
vehicles swerved out of the way.
Gregor says the plane lost power as it approached the airport, and the pilot didn't think he would make it to the runway.
The pilot was not injured.
