Los Angeles police have confiscated at least $2.7 million worth of pirated CDs, DVDs and clothes and arrested 28 people as part of a crackdown on counterfeit goods.
The Police Department's anti-piracy task force on Tuesday displayed almost 200,000 items seized during last week's raids, including CDs, watches, sunglasses, fake brand-name clothes and bootlegged DVDs of movies.
Cmdr. David Doan says the 28 arrested in the raid will face charges of manufacturing, distribution and selling counterfeit goods.
Doan says investigators employed by music labels and the movie industry helped 45 police officers in the second-largest bust of pirated and counterfeit goods in city history.
