Opening statements are scheduled to get under way Wednesday in the Los Angeles murder trial of music producer Phil Spector.
Spector, famous for his 1960s "Wall of Sound" recording technique, is charged with the shooting death of actress Lana Clarkson in his Alhambra home in 2003.
In opening statements, defense attorneys are expected to stress the importance of forensic evidence and assert it will prove the death either a suicide or accident.
The prosecution is expected to give an overview of evidence supporting its theory of "implied malice" which could lead to a conviction of second-degree murder.
Spector has pleaded not guilty and is free on $1 million bail. If convicted, he could face life in prison.
