Police: Freeway Shooting Not Prompted By Road Rage

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) ― Police say a freeway shooting near Devore that killed a 12-year-old boy may not have been prompted by road rage after all.

The young Gabriel Garcia was taken off life support yesterday at Riverside Community Hospital.

Pedro Escobedo, 43, who police believe was the shooter, pleaded NOT guilty yesterday to a charge of felony murder.

Meanwhile, police have found a witness who says the people in Garcia's car stopped and got into Escobedo's car miles from the scene, in Mira Loma.

A sheriff's spokeswoman says there are still more questions than answers in Monday's shooting.

Escobedo is being held on $5 million in bail.
