Former Pastor Sentenced For Molesting Two Girls

SAN FERNANDO (CBS) ― A former pastor was sentenced to 32 years and four months in state prison on Thursday. Joseph Gary Torres molested two girls who attended a Sunland church.

Torres was convicted June 26 of 11 counts, including continuous sexual abuse, oral copulation of a minor and sodomy by use of force.

Both girls attended Iglesia Bautista Reformada, where the 48-year-old
defendant was a pastor.

One of the girls was molested beginning in July 2000 -- when she was 12
or 13 -- until August 2006, while the other was 14 when the abuse began in July 2005 and continued through August 2006, according to the District
Attorney's Office.

Torres was arrested in September 2006 by investigators from the Los
Angeles Police Department's Juvenile Division. He has remained jailed since then.
