Panettiere's Father Faces Charge Of Domestic Abuse

LOS ANGELES

The father of "Heroes" actress Hayden Panettiere was charged Thursday with misdemeanor battery stemming from an alleged attack on his wife last month.

Alan Lee Panettiere, 49, is scheduled to be arraigned next month in Beverly Hills Superior Court, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney's Office.

Panettiere was arrested about 2:30 a.m. Aug. 11 after the alleged attack at the couple's West Hollywood home. He was later freed on bail.

If convicted, he faces up to a year in county jail, according to the District Attorney's Office.
