The latest addition to San Diego's panda population will make her public debut today.
Zhen Zhen, born 20 weeks ago at the San Diego Zoo, is the fourth giant panda cub born at the zoo.
At first, the 17-pound cub, whose name means "precious" in Chinese, will on public display for only two hours at a time. Today's viewing starts at 9 a.m. and ends at 11 a.m. Also on display will be her father and 2-year-old sister.
Since her birth on Aug. 3rd, Zhen Zhen has been living in an off-exhibit den at the San Diego Zoo's Giant Panda Research Station. However, the cub has been visible to the world via the Internet at
www.sandiegozoo.com.
San Diego is one of only four U.S. zoos where giant pandas are on display.
