Sole Panama Plane Crash Survivor, 12, Returns Home

CARPINTERIA, Calif. (AP) ― A girl, 12, who was the sole survivor of a plane crash in Panama is back home in California. The girl's grandmother, Hazel Froscher, says Francesca Lewis of Carpinteria returned to the state Friday night.

Francesca was on vacation with her 13-year-old friend Talia Klein when the Cessna 172 they were flying in crashed in a jungle on Dec. 23.

Francesca was found alive more than two days later. Talia and her father, Santa Barbara businessman Michael Klein, and the Panamanian pilot died.
