Off-Duty Officer Allegedly Shoots 2, Kills 1

TEMECULA, Calif. One person was killed Saturday night and three others wounded in a shooting involving an off-duty police officer, sheriff's deputies said.

A fight broke out at a Mexican restaurant at about 7:20 p.m., according to Riverside County sheriff's Deputy Craig Roberts.

The gunman was identified as a Costa Mesa police officer but his name was withheld, police said.

Deputies recovered a handgun from the officer but it was unclear if it was his service weapon, Roberts said.

A second victim was hospitalized in critical condition and two others suffered minor injuries, according to reports. It is unclear how these two were injured.
