Police are still investigating the shooting death of a 40-year-old Long Beach woman who pointed a handgun at officers while standing on the roof of her home.
The shooting occurred in the 1000 block of Coronado Avenue, near east 10th Street at around 3:45 p.m. Wednesday, Long Beach police Sgt. dina Zapalski said.
Officers were sent to the location on a report of a dispute, Zapalski said. Kami Stevens was armed with a handgun and standing on the roof of her home when they arrived.
Officers attempted to negotiate with Stevens, but she pointed the gun at the officers, who fired at her, Zapalski said.
Stevens was taken to a hospital where she died. No officers were injured.
Investigators believe that last week, Stevens may have been involved in an incident in which she was taken to a hospital and held for observation, Zapalski added.
The number of officers involved in the shooting was not disclosed.
