Pedestrian Killed By Metrolink Train In Northridge

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. A Metrolink train headed from Ventura to Los Angeles Tuesday struck and killed a pedestrian in Northridge, authorities said.

The person was hit by train Number 104 about 7:15 a.m. near the 8900 block of Corbin Avenue and died at the scene, Los Angeles Fire Department Brian Humphrey said.

No one on the train was hurt, Humphrey said.

A "bus bridge" was being arranged to transport passengers on other trains between the Van Nuys and Chatsworth stations because the affected track between those stations was closed while an investigation was underway, Tyrrell said, adding that delays of up to a half-hour were expected.
