16-Year-Old Injured In Northridge Shooting

NORTHRIDGE, Calif. A 16-year-old boy has been hospitalized and is currently listed in stable condition after being shot in the face and shoulder during a gang-related attack in Northridge on Tuesday, authorities said.

The shooting took place in the 8600 block of Wilbur Avenue near Napa Street just before 7 p.m. Tuesday, Lt. Ruben De La Torre of the Los Angeles Police Department's Media Relations Section said.

The boy was walking down the street when a gray Chevrolet SUV drove up, and one of the vehicle's four occupants exited the sport utility vehicle and started fighting with the victim, De La Torre said.

A second assailant came out of the SUV moments later and shot the victim, wounding him in the face and shoulder, he said.

The boy has been hospitalized in stable condition, De La Torre said. The attack appears to have been gang-related, he added.
