'Newlywed Bandits' Believed Behind 5 Robberies

 Bank Bandits With Crazy Names

LOS ANGELES (CBS) ― A couple known as the "Newlywed Bandits" are believed to be responsible for five bank robberies in the Los Angeles area, and the FBI and local police need the public's help in identifying them.

The bandits allegedly robbed one teller each at a Wells Fargo branch in La Habra Thursday, according to Laura Eimiller of the FBI.

During the first robbery at an East West Bank branch in El Monte on Oct. 18, the male suspect allegedly entered the bank, approached a teller and used a note to demand cash while threatening to have a weapon, Eimiller said.

The female suspect allegedly did the same at a Bank of America branch in Duarte Oct. 23.

On Oct. 30 and Tuesday, the couple entered an East West Bank branch in Diamond Bar and a Downey Savings branch in Claremont together and robbed a teller using a demand note and claiming to have a weapon, Eimiller said.

The Newlywed Bandits are considered armed and dangerous. Anyone with information regarding these robberies was asked to contact their local FBI office or local law enforcement agency.
