Fire officials say crews will work throughout the night to fully surround a brush fire that broke out this afternoon along the 101 Freeway near Thousand Oaks.
Ventura County Fire Captain Ron Oatman says the blaze is 60 percent contained. He says the fire raced up a hillside and burned dry brush but no homes or buildings were threatened.
Winds in the area were blowing consistently at around 10 mph throughout the afternoon. The National Weather Service has issued a red flag warning for the area.
