Fierce Santa Ana Winds Prompt Red Flag Warning

Santa Ana winds Monday moved into the Southland, prompting the National Weather Service to issue a red flag warning.

A Red Flag warning was issued Monday, as bone-dry conditions and gusty Santa Ana winds moved into the Southland, forecasters said.
The warning was scheduled to remain in effect until 6 p.m. Tuesday.
Sustained winds were expected to be between 25 and 40 miles per hour, while gusts were expected to reach 65 miles per hour.
Temperatures, meanwhile, were expected to remain unseasonably high. The National Weather Service forecast highs of 68 in Palmdale and Lancaster; 70 on Mount Wilson; 74 in Newhall; 79 in Newport Beach; 81 in Pasadena, Woodland Hills and at LAX; 83 in Burbank; 84 in Long Beach, Anaheim and San Gabriel; 85 in Avalon; and 86 in downtown L.A.
