An attorney for a woman accused of a MySpace hoax that allegedly led to a 13-year-old girl's suicide wants the case to be decided by a judge, not a jury.
In the motion filed Wednesday, lawyer Dean Steward waives defendant Lori Drew's right to a jury trial. A hearing on the request is scheduled Monday in U.S. District Court.
Drew has pleaded not guilty to one count of conspiracy and three counts of accessing computers without authorization.
The Missouri woman is accused of helping create a false-identity account on the social networking site then posing as a teenage boy and befriending her young neighbor, Megan Meier.
Meier hanged herself after allegedly receiving messages from Drew.
Drew's trial is currently scheduled for Nov. 18.
