The shooting was apparently a domestic dispute.
Police have identified the Burbank woman who was shot to death Wednesday morning as she arrived to her workplace in Carson.
Meanwhile, police are on the hunt for the woman's estranged husband who they believe shot the woman at point blank before fleeing.
Veronica Reyes, 30, of Burbank, died at the scene of the shooting in the 900 block of East 233rd Street, deputies with the Sheriff's Headquarters
Bureau said.
It was unclear exactly when the killing occurred, but the body was found
about 8:30 a.m.
Carlos Reyes, 29, of San Pedro, is wanted in the killing, sheriff's Sgt.
Diane Hecht said.
"It apparently is the result of a domestic dispute," sheriff's Lt. Dave Coleman told KCAL9. "The suspect is her estranged husband. He's still at large. We're working on leads, trying to locate him at the moment."
As the woman was parking her red sport utility vehicle, the shooter apparently pulled alongside and opened fire with a pistol, Hecht said.
Carlos Reyes' car was found several blocks west of the crime scene, deputies said. Reyes is about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with black hair and brown eyes. He was wearing dark shorts when last seen.
Anyone with more information as to his whereabouts was asked to call detectives at (323) 890-5500.
