2 Men Get Life In O.C. Murder-For-Hire Shooting

RIVERSIDE (AP) ―

Two men convicted of killing a Yorba Linda millionaire businessman in an alleged murder-for-hire shooting have been sentenced to life in prison without possibility of parole.

Frank Bazzo of Murrieta and Joe Olivarez of Altadena were convicted in March of killing 51-year-old Mostafa Shirazi, who was shot outside the Riverside Public Utilities office on Aug. 15, 2005.

Shirazi's ex-wife Epifania Nicolas, a Blythe dentist, was charged with hiring the hit. She was acquitted by a separate jury.

Bazzo is also an ex-husband of Nicolas.

Nicolas, Bazzo, and Shirazi ran board-and-care homes for the elderly and disabled throughout Southern California.

Prosecutors say Nicolas and Bazzo plotted the murder and Olivarez was the shooter.
